does anyone know if the regular "joe" can buy parts from brp? I would buy from iboats but they do not have the parts I need for my 1969 Johnson. The marina's around here what to charge an arm and leg. Thanks

As far as I know, BRP won't sell parts direct. I'm afraid you're stuck with the dealer, unless they're parts available from Sierra.

What parts are you trying to find?

When you deal with outboard engine's you will find that part's do indeed cost an arm, and a leg. Most time's a salvage yard will want 50% of new cost. Many times you can find an engine like your own, in your own community. That can be a wealth of part's at a fraction of what they will cost elsewhere. Driving around my own community of 2500, I see boat's, and engine's parked behind garage's that have'nt been moved in year's, nor are they ever going to get moved. These engine's have bailed me out many time's. I have got more than one, just to get it off the property, for free.

Lots of places to buy after market parts, but they don't always sell what you need.and if they do,I don't think you save all that much. That's your choice.
I generally go OEM.

maybe you should get the best parts you can,and realize you are saving LOTS of $$ on labor with the advice here.
