I need to replace the exhaust housing on my 1983 Evinrude 15hp E15RCTA and was wondering if an exhaust housing from a newer Evinrude 15hp would work. I found a brand new replacement exhaust from MarineEngine.com for 90 dollars, but I also managed to find a few unsed ones on Ebay that are in great condition. I am just wondering if the exhaust off a late 90's early 2000's will fit on a 1983 Evinrude?

It might - they use the same powerhead-to-exhaust housing gasket (#325721). Exhaust tuners are different, but not sure that's a deal breaker. In truth, you won't know until you try.

only housing is the same but upper mouning syste is different in post 94' models

Yea, I looked up some more info online and it looks like the particular exhaust that was used on my Evinrude was only used from 1981-1984. I was able to find a new one for 70 dollars so ill prob end up going with that.
