Parts ?

Was looking for a starter today for a 50hp force and found out that they dont make this anymore......I know old news but I'm new to the boating life but it seems that I've chosen to buy old stuff. Anyways heres the model # 507x90D. Has anyone changed the starter on one of these and used a starter from Merc. or some other company that takes the place of this model? I'm worried that the one I baught today isnt going to work. The one I baught is a Merc. made but said to take the place of force 35hp-55hp from 88-94.

Pit...go to ebay and type in 'force' under boat parts. You will probably find something that will work for you fairly quickly. There are usually quite a few parts for sale there.

You can also go to an alternator/starter rebuild shop and have them look at it and get it repaired cheaper than you might think.

BigP thanks for your help and I did check ebay but some things like starters I'm scared to buy on there because I dont want to get stranded on the water from a bad part. I feel a little better when I have a warranty. I found used parts as well but still i'd rather only change this part once. Thank you guys for your help.
