Any ideas on patching a 2" hole in 3/4 inch marine ply? Nothing is under it, kinda a free floating hole in a piece of wood (seat pedestal hole). I had ideas like cut a patch hole and fiberglass/resin over it. Needs to be strong....

You could try putting some backing strips of wood 4 inches longer than the hole is under the floor and screw them in place with exterior screws. ( not long enuf to reach your hull though.) That is called a cleat Then cut a patch fill it in. Scew it down to your Cleats and glass over that. Strong & Simple
( Dont screw your cleats down through your bottom hull !!)

Heres a crappy demo pic. Hope it helps.

If you have access to a basic machine shop you could make an aluminum cap. shouldn't be hard. you could even screw a piece of diamond plate down over the hole with some flat head screws.
