PB for hairline cracks?

Hey all,
I'm thinking about all the hairline cracks, dings, and scrapes that I need to fill on my boat. There's a lot of spots that need work. After I sand down the hull, and dremel out the cracks, can I use PB to fill the cracks?

When I mix up a big batch of PB for the new transom, there will be some left over. Can I use it to fill some of the spots in the hull. As long as the PB hasn't set, of course.

Will the PB work?
Will there be a bunch of hairy edges that need to be sanded down from the fibers?
Should I mix up a fresh batch for the bottom, instead of chancing the PB to set?

Would it be cheaper in the long run to buy repair compound?

Thanks in advance,
B

Re: PB for hairline cracks?

For that type of repair I prefer a PB mix like this.

8 oz of Resin, 18 drops of Hardener, 1/4 cup of Cabosil and then mix in enuf Glass Bubbles to get the consistency of Mayonaise. This mix will yield a filler that is easy to sand and will easily fill the narrow cracks and shallow gouges and gives you about 20-25 mins working time in temps of 75 - 80 degrees. Make sure to do a thorough cleaning of the area with acetone prior to filling.

That's my recommendation.:)

Sweet. I thought one of the experts around here would have a good idea.

Added bubbles to the shopping list!
