PC genius's please help.

I am in the process of writing some music with somebody that lives out of town from me. I have a digital recorder and I want to be able to put this music onto my PC so I can burn it to CD. Does anybody know of anything free(programs) that I can download to use for this purpose. I used to have a cakewlk program but thanx to a virus awhile back I lost it and cant find my CD of it. Any help would be great, thanx in advance.
