Has anyone had any experience using a clear penetrating epoxy on soft/rotted wood? I found a site rotdoctor.com looking for something to help my subfloor in my RV. They say some pretty good things. I will replace the worst parts and those I can easily access, but I was wondering about using this stuff for some of the harder to get to places. blt

Re: penetrating epoxy

I use CPES all the time on new wood, but not on rotted wood. It seems like it would do exactly what they claim. Folks at a local boat yard use it, and claim it’s great, but doesn’t really penetrate as deeply as Rot Dr claims. I think it depends on the wood. Also be aware the CPES may not penetrate past the first layer of plywood. Apparently, it penetrates just fine until it smacks into the glue holding the layers together. From the edges it penetrates plywood just fine.

If you post a query up in the boat repair section and include “Boomyal” in the topic, he’ll weigh in with his vast experience with the CPES product. Don’t know if he has used it on rotted wood, either.
