I am buying a boat and when I took it out on the test ride I noticed an issue.

When doing a holeshot, it would rev, then stutter, then rev and go like normal. It has 170 hours on the engine - its an 01 GX225 Glastron.

I read on another forum that it is possibly some bad o-rings and the carb possibly needs to be re-built. Can anyone agree with this assessment or offer other advice?

The seller is having it looked at at a marina and will pay for any repairs, but I would like to get other people's input.

Do you have a serial number for the engine? There are some carb service bulletins, but I don't think any were from the 01 era. Even if there is, it goes by serial number range.

No SB's for your SN range.
May be nothing more than some dirt or water in the carb that a rebuild will take care of.

Well, odd turn of events, but the marina says the engine needs to be replaced. The boat has been sitting a long time - up to 2 years. The seller is going to pay to have it replaced. Interesting, but I should have the boat in my hands next Friday.
