Hi, I have just acquired a 8 hp archimedes penta outboard. Its in superb condition and runs superbly, but i cant seem to see a telltale water outlet on it.Can someone advise me if this model has one,and if not how do you tell if its cooling properly.
Regards Steve

Most motors have some sort of exhaust relief port that some water comes out of.See if you can find both the intake and outlet and be sure they are clear.mud dobbers like to build in there. You can also run the motor and CAREFULLY feel the head.It should be too hot to hold your hand on but not so hot it burns you.I don't know whaere you can find a pump.

Thank you for your reply. There are no relief holes on the leg,the only water inlet is through the exhaust in front of the prop.I think i will get a new impeller for it no problem and yes the cylinder head is getting a touch warm.I was wondering if anyone else had this motor or has had experience working with them?
