Penta gimbal bearing removal help!

I have a a Volvo Penta sx-m model 3868893. I had a bellows failure which ruined my gimbal bearing. It is a ball bearing type bearing and the bearing was hives out...balls from the bearing were in the bellows.

We have had a heck of a time pulling the rest of the bearing pieces out. We made a slide hammer, about 5 lbs, and it won't budge it. There appears to possibly be some sort of bearing retainer but I don't find any evidence of any retainers in my research. Before we make a 10 lb hammer I wanted to verify that this bearing should pull out and no removal of a retainer is necessary.

no retainer. to aid in getting the bearing out, take a can of keyboard spray, turn it upside down and spray the bearing. this is pure freon and it will spray out the nozzle as a liquid and freeze the bearing. take care not to spray it on your skin. this will shrink the bearing a bit to help

Thanks guys. As a guy I used to work with frequently said "if all else fails use a bigger hammer." Guess that plus keyboard cleaner is what I will be doing.
