I had docked my boat and was lining up the trailer to back down the ramp. The setup is that the ramp empties out onto the road with not much space between the ramp and the street. And you must pull up on the street, then backup making a 90* turn to your right to back onto the ramp.
So I pull up perpendicular to the ramp. There are no cars directly behind me, and I put it in reverse to backup and I see a red Ferrari approaching from behind. I stop thinking he will go around. Nope. He and his buddy pull right up to the trailer and start honking the horn (not very impressive for a Ferrari, sounds like a Fiat). So I give a big long blast on the Town Car horn. He sits there waving for me to go. So I start backing up, put the trailer bunks right over the hood of his Ferrari. Man, that got his attention, he sticks his hands straight up in the air (top is down) like he was under arrest! I stop and he backs up and goes around.
Some people are morons. What did the fool think I was doing with the car in reverse (remember the big white backup lights on a Town Car?) with an empty boat trailer right in front of the boat ramp? Just joy riding?
The sheer gall and arrogance of some people amaze me. I guess he decided that it wasn't worth doing battle with his big $$$ sports car against my $600 trailer. Good decision on his part.
