Perfect Pass Paddle wheel? do it yourself guys!

Anyone that has installed the paddle wheel and temp gauge on stern drive...just curious where you put it and exactly how you did so I have an idea whats going on.

FYI I have a 21' wellcraft excel with 5.7 carb mercruiser. If I put it in front of the trim tab will that mess up the performance?
