I have an 88 Bayliner Capri 19.5 foot, with a force 125 HP. I have put Boyeson Reeds in it, with a new Hustler HU1317AO prop on it, 17 pitch. I have now gotten my WOT to about 4800 RPM's at about 40MPH now. It is running better than it ever has.

I would recommend this Hustler prop to anyone. I used to have a problem with it pulling me up on a wakeboard, I'm about 200 lbs, and it pulled me up without any problem now. This prop also allows me to keep it trimmed up without it spinning in certain sharps turns on Falls lake here.

HOpe this helps anyone else wanting to get better perfomance out of their old force. This thing runs like a new engine now. I would recommend this to anyone.

The speed was taken from GPS, my teleflex Speedo was only about 2 mph slower. I have a Garmin GPS 12.

Thanks,
Bryan Cox

Howdy, Bry.

I think you are over propped. 4800 is not enough rpm for WOT.

Good luck. :)

Bryan, I suspect your tach is WRONG. You would need a little over 5400 RPM (with prop slippage) to get 40 mph.
John

How can I test the Tach? It seems to be running right, but this thing has a 20 Pole alternator so a regular shop tach won't work. The tack seems to be working it is correct down at idle for sure running about 1000 RPM's. I had baught the Tach from http://www.beede.com/3AT-0301.htm

This is the exact model that I have but mine goes up to 8000 RPM's. I had even sent it back to them to get it checked after some others had told me they thought it was wrong back in April, they recalibrated it at the factory and sent it back. They said it was working fine.

I am using a GPS to read the speeds that I am getting and it is like 40.2 to 40.5.

You've got me, but its running like a champ for that old force, never run this strong in its life, but it does seem to hesitate a second when I dump the throttle, but I think that is cause I'm running her rich.

Thanks,
Bryan Cox
