Permenant fix for sticky t'stats?

Is there a permenant fix for sticky thermostats on a late 80's 88 spl, that doesn't eliminate thermostatic temperature control? There are thousands of these motors still in service and this seems to be the number one complaint!

never had a problem with them. the 88 is the 90 hp motor with out the oil mixing system. i would say properly installed OEM stats, and regular flushing. if salt water use, definately flush, and change periodically. it could be bad diverters, in the system, not the stats.
