person and weight limit ?

i bought a 1985 celebrity calais 18' br totally restored. very nice .. im needing to know if any one knows the max person and weight limit for this boat the tag that is normally in the the boat that shows it is not there any more.. can i get in trouble for that not being posted in the boat. and does any one know where i can get one for that specific boat? thanks for any help you guys can give.

This is actually very complicated. Basically you have to try and sink her . . . and then measure how much weight it took to do it :eek: Then there are some weird calcs that come after that. I would worry most about the # of passengers and you should keep the weight on board down anyway . . . For passengers, without a plate they (law enforcement) use:

(Length X Width) in feet

Yours would be 10 . . . I don't believe you can get in trouble for not having the plate. Most LEOs on the water really focus on heavily loaded boats. I would want to keep it under 8 and preferably 6 to keep their attention off me. If you have all of your required safety equipment and are not drunk you should be OK, but who wants the hassle?
