Hi everyone, this is my first post however I have spent alot of time on this great site researching my transom rebuild. I ended up taking it to a pro after several hours on this site. My new 'issue' is with the pexiglass windshield on my 1965 Larson. As im sure most of America knows it rains a bit here in the great Northwest and my view while its raining is not good. Is there a fix for these or is it a replacement 'issue'? Thanks any ideas will be appreciated. Dean

Re: Pexiglass Windshield

i have the similar problem. 1956 Duracraft 14" duraflite.. unfotunately, i don't have the frame, if you have the frame you can make a windshield out of lexan, it almost un breakable and bends easily. i had a tree limb fall on the port side windshield on my I/O, just broke the glass, took some craft paper and made a template, cut the lexan, and after several fittings in was in. easier with 2 people.

Depending on Exactly What the Issue Is,..........
Will determine Exactly What can be done to Fix it......

If it's just a matter of Scratches,........
They can be sanded out with progressively Finer sand paper, til you get to 1500grit......
Then there is the process of "Flame Polishing" to get that Clear look....

This link will take you to a tutorial on how I rebuilt the windshield on my 1965 MFG Niagara. Basically the same as Tashasdaddy did. As long as the frame is good, you can do it for under $100.

Windshield Replacement

Making a good template is the trick. My windshield was so brittle after 40 years of sun that it split in two when I got it out of the frame. No problem, duct tape will hold it together long enough to make a good template.

When I did this a few years back I had not found anyone who had made a lexan relacement for the old classic frame. So I was making it up as I went. Took me all of one full afternoon to complete. So take your time, plan it out, and it will be a quick project.
