Phil Harris - Cornelia Marie - Stroke

Just thought I'd let everyone know(not sure if you guys watch the show), but Phil Harris of the Cornelia Marie (Deadliest Catch) had a stroke on Jan 30th while in port. He was airlifted to a larger hospital, and has had surgery, then was put in a medically induced coma.

That's sad to hear. Love that show and Phil's a tough sob. My prayers are with him and his family.

That stinks! He is one of my favorites on the show.
Hopefully he recovers and is ok..

I believe it was during last seasons episodes he had a blood clot pass thru his heart. They pulled him off the boat for awhile. He was very lucky that didn't do him in....

Me too. Everyone one of the guys on that show smokes like a freaking chimney! Why people still smoke these days is beyond me.

UPDATE February 3, 2010: No one ever said Captain Phil Harris wasn't tough. Today, dad showed some good signs of improvement, squeezing our hands and even summoning his trademark Captain's bluntness by telling the doctors and nurses, "Don't f*ck up." We are encouraged but still very cautious. It is a long road ahead, but its made more bearable and comforting knowing your thoughts and prayers are with us. We are strong because of you -- our fans. Thanks and we will continue to update you as best we can going forward.

Why people still smoke these days is beyond me.

Man, do I agree with that. Between the health issues and the cost, its got to be be one of the dumbest habits on the planet. Just think how much boat stuff you could buy with the money that goes to a $150/month smoking habit!

Thanks for the updates. I wasnt aware and do enjoy that show a lot, like a lot of other members I'm sure. I see now they're trying to spin off the format with lobsterboats and longline swordboats.

I can't take watching them all of them smoking all the time either.

At least when I watch everyone smoking on the hit show "Madman" they are not smoking real cigs.

It's going to be a tough fishing season to finish for his shipmates and all the other fisherman who knew him.
