I'm looking for the correct emblem for a 1969 800 El. It's the one mounted on the cowl's retainer. As far as I can tell, it was used only on the '69 inlines. I believe, but not certain, it is a ribbed silver pentagon. Any information that could help me confirm this, would be very much appreciated

Ed, I have something similar on my 1971 Merc. Just going by memory, it is a silver pentagon with the word Kiekhaefer and two dates, 194? and 1971.

I'll try to get a phot of it for you this weekend.

Curiosity got the better of me and I had to see the design for myself. As you can see, my memory is not what it once was :D:(

Here is photo of the one I have.

MB,
Thanks for the reply, and Happy Thanksgiving. Yup! I've seen that one on a '70. Didn't think it came on the '71 though. Here are some pics of ones I know about. I believe these were all used after 1970. Merc also offered a "4" decal if that what you bought. The '69 medallion seems very elusive.

Ed you are correct. The picture I posted was from a 1970 model that I have as a parts motor for my 1971 model.

I was not aware that the design changed so frequently.

Have a very Happy Thanksgiving.

M.B.,
Yea, they changed every year or two. The "numbered" pentagons were used on the blue band motors (I think) Does your '71 have the prop without lettering? Here is a pic of the one I'm after. Although I'm not certain if this one is the correct one. Most of my research leeds me to believe it may be. I am still hoping to get a photo from someone to confirm it. :)
