The other day I got a photo from my Ant and Uncle from Jersey (channel islands). It was a news clipping from the past. The photo was of a shop that had caught on fire and the fire department had just put it out. The photo was taken back in 1965 and showed a group of people standing around looking at the action of the days events. As they were explaining the photo to me the shop next door to fire was my grandparents. Then they dropped the bomb shell on me. There standing in the lower corner of the photo was Mother holding a small child (me). What a blast from the past. My Mother holding me when I was little.

I know that it does not sound like much as all Mothers hold there children an love them. But for me because of the way my life was when I was growing up and loosing my mother at a very young age(13) to drinking plus having no photos of her and myself I was jumping for joy.

Just thought I would share this. :)

Now that is a nice thing to get a picture like that, it will just add to the good memories of you and your mom. :)

Re: Photos from the past

I have a cousin that lost her father at an early age and her mother died when she was 8, she moved away with older sister and we reunited after many years, she always bugged me to bring over pictures of the family...she had few pictures of the family, and didn't remember any of the 7 uncles or 3 aunts, and only remembered a few of our 16+ cousins.

I finally brought some over so she could scan them...one picture I just handed to her, I knew who it was, 'that's the boat my father and your father built, that's at your beach house', the saddest thing I ever heard from her was "is that my mother standing near the boat?", I was stunned, and found out, she had no recollection of her mother or this beach house...none!

The next time she came over, we went to that beach house, and to the same beach in the picture.
She never forgot that visit!
