1972 Thuderbird "Apache" 19 FT. W/ a 1976 Mercury 1150 "Thunderbolt" 115 HP in line 6.

Well I drove from the Gettysburg,Pa area yesterday and went to Gambrills, Md(near Annapolis ) to pick up my "free" boat, motor and trailer. When I arrived the boat was on the trailer and the Merc 1150 Thunderbolt was sitting on the transom where it belonged.

Now the good part, there were 3 "trees' growing out of the boat,1 luv set type couch, 1 push mower, 1 radial saw, 1 drill, 8 inches of natural "mulch" from 10 years of being left outside and uncovered, 15 5 gallon buckets most filled with black thick muck, 10 trash bags with who knows what that had decomposed a set of barbells, decomposed life vests, cusions 1 pair of ski's the boat seats had decayed to where they were outer cusion skins alone all wood braces and stands for the sets were crumbled.

I had to replace both wheel and rims (205/75-B/14's) on the trailer replace the tounge. The trailer lights still worked!.

I tossed the couch out and took off for home!

I deep sixed every thing out of the boat and hosed her out.

All of the metal is intact and cleaned up no pitting all the windshield glass is there and frame perfect all parts to the boat oter than the seats are there and functional dash on both sides are complete and look new as do the gauges..Steering cables are like new.

MR Clean erasers completley cleaned off that black growth off the white top side like a champ!

I will spend the next week thoughroughly cleaning/compounding every inch till it is scum and dirt free, hen go after the motor.

A few questions.....What is the fuel capacity of theis boat? What is the Max HP rating ( cannot find the plackard ) Where can I find the original owners manual for this boat and or specs.

I plan to have the boat completely refurbished and Painted next spring.

Color is currently Whit topside and interior andunderside seems to be a Bluish color like a cornish blue does anyone know the actual name of the color?

Thanx!!!

Since the boat has been left neglected outside for so long you should check (or have a professional check) the transom for rot, the stringers for rot, and the foam flotation for the possibility of being waterlogged. No since putting time and effort into painting and polishing a boat with major structural issues.
Thunderbird is now owned by Formula (the logo should look familiar). They may be able to help you with information on your model. http://www.formulaboats.com/default.aspx
