Pickup timing

I have a question about Pickup Timing, NOT advance timing. I have recently adjusted the jam nut which adjusts the throttle rod. I don't have a timing light but I have read that as long as things happen in this sequence (below) when you shift forward it will be most likely ok to not check the Pickup Timing if the motor is running ok.

1st Shift gear
2nd Timer base starts to advance
3rd Cam touches roller and starts to open the throttle.

Please, I don't want advice about the advance timing of the Timer Base, I did not screw with this.

what motor? doing a complete link n sinc would be the solution.
