Hey all, wanted to show Laddies a bunch of pics of my motor. Different powerhead than the lower unit and were trying to figure out what it is.

Re: Pics for Laddies

It looks like a very early 25 before 1984 some one has butchered the trigger and spark advance linkage, that carb and it's parts ar NLA, the simplest solution would be to find a donor engine as most of the 25s were pretty much identical. some where out there is a parts engine and it will be the only inexpencive way out of this mess, I afraid.

Re: Pics for Laddies

omg, ok, now its starting to make sense, when i got this, that rod was there, i still have it, but it was never connected to anything and i couldnt see where it would connect- looks like the ball the link snapped onto is gone. i'll see what i can do there as far as getting that link back in place- so it's straight from the top of the "control lever #12" to the ball on the end of "trigger assy #7"? think i can do that, only gonna get me to where i was the other day though- the stator and coils I ordered are the same arent they??? man i hope so

Re: Pics for Laddies

ok, i checked, at the very least, the parts on order are the same as the new links are showing- so we were thinking 81-82, now what? 83-84? 80-83? thanks for your help- guess i'll start looking for a donor- but that old around here...might be hunting for awhile. If it's just that linkage- i may be able to repair it.

Re: Pics for Laddies

It's for sure that the spark advance actuator arm and linkage is missing and that arm it is attached to on the trigger is missing with those pieces the engine could be timed properly

Re: Pics for Laddies

any thoughts on converting it to the electric advance- ie the other type of switchbox and just fix the trigger in place? would that be possible? And also, what's the point of the dashpot?

Re: Pics for Laddies

The new style switch box must have the new style trigger (old has 2 wires, new has 3) and I'm not sure about the stator, you can check that on the link I sent you.

Re: Pics for Laddies

both triggers (original ishopmarine link and the new one you just gave me) appear to have 2 wires- didnt see one with 3. The stator listed is the same for both engines, not the original part, but a newer revision of it, or a substitution, but it's the same. i think id rather get it working with the electric advance if thats even possible. So potentially, new trigger and new switchbox, and it will work? Thanks again

just noticed the newer ignition components list you provided only shows the older style mechanical advance switchbox

Re: Pics for Laddies

got it, different 3 wire stator that plugs into the new style switchbox. Guess I'll try to fix what I have. I'll let you know how that goes, raining today though.
