I thought I would find pools of emulsified oil sitting on top the pistons. The top of the head was covered. Rods covered...

Now, time to get the head checked out...

Also, time to pull the block, and get to work on some rewiring and clean up of the bilge!

I Can't see any water to oil intrusions in the pictures,......
It Does look like #2 was passing some water......(it well illustrates my Water Decarbonizing)
Do you see any Rust Tracks in the Manifold,..???....

When you get the Block flipped upside down,...... Look along the Inside Portside Wall of the Block,......
If it's Freeze Damage,.... That's the most Likely Spot............

Intake had the emulsion in it. Exhaust was dry and black.

Well,.... You could have done a little more Testing before you pulled it down,.....

Now,.. You've Got to Finish tearing it down to see Where it's Leaking........
Thou Pressure Testing is still possible,... It's a little more complicated now with the head off.....

It could be the lighting in the pic. .. But I see #2 as being Awfully Clean,.....That means it's been passing Water........
Maybe it happened Late in the game,... Dunno.....

To add to to problems isn't what a automotive fuel pump and it wouldn't hurt to pressure ck the manifold

i keep hoping (for your sake) that the head gasket would be caputso, but it doesnt look like it is. And unfortunatly, that motor definatly had water run through it.

still seems like a gasket problem though, seeings how select cylinders are clean.

1,2,and 5 look like something isnt right.

Im with Bondo....You should have done some testing before teardown.....Laddies brings up a good point....If that is an automotive fuel pump...Get rid of it!....Budman, could be right, (I know where Ocean Gate is....I used to live in Island Heights).....I say, look for any obvious freeze damage, if O.K., have the head redone.....Pressure check the manifolds, put it back together & see what you've got....JK

Looks pretty typical of an inline 6.

Well kids... Given the shape of things, I'm going to get a NEW LONGBLOCK for $1800.00. I'd feel much more safe with a new motor, instead of a rebuilt/used one. I didn't spend much on the boat originally, so new power isn't such a hard hit after all. My wife is behind me 100% on NEW power, so we're good to go!

I've got the marine fuel pump ready to install along with elec. igntn., new water pump, and other stuff.

She's going to be a nice and SMOOOOOOTH ride come April 1st!

You'd better be pricing a New Manifold,+ Riser........

What I see,........ Yours Might the the Problem..........

It'd be ashame to hurt a New motor, with a Bad manifold.......

Haut Medoc,

wow small world eh ? what made you take the leap to WA ? Island Heights is a nice area. I used to work at the yacht club over there when i was younger. I used to love taking the boat over there (2 seconds as opposed to 20 minutes by car) and skateboarding down the hills.

dukes fin, good luck !

Jeff
