Re: Pics of my winter project

still doing my homework on the resin type. dont have any wood yet ive only had the boat for a week. i figure it was worh the $200 i paid for it. the omc motor started up and ran yesterday. i would like to convert the riding bow into a deck bow like the old 50s runabouts b/c someone cut out the molded fiberglass seats and i think it would be easier than building new ones. is there any way to put teak or similar wood ontop of fiberglass?

That boat looks a lot like my Chris Craft Scorpion 186. Any idea what it is?

your trailor is worth 200 alone !!

OMC parts can be hard to come by , so lets all hope that good !!

sure you can do anything you wood like [pun intended] lol, I got a buddie on here that cut the hole stern off and added 4 feet to his boat , He will be here , oops is his name , great guy !! you want to put like a little cubbie cabin in or just a flat top on the bow ?? to do that you would have to use eopxy !! Re: Pics of my winter project

ya i was going to build a little storage locker under the bow deck. the omc motor is a 2.5l and resembles old chevy motors, the starter was bad and i put one off a chevy in, bolted right up.

id like the bow to look like this pic and also build a deck over the rear to cover up motor area instead of "dog house" type cover. then put one big u shaped seat to get my 7 pass max

That boat has great lines.Sure would look sharp with the teak on the bow!
Lot of upkeep, strip and varnish, strip and varnish.
Teak looks good when it's first sanded though.

Love the idea of the wrap around bench seat in the back. Do you fish at all? If you do, that bow area would make a great casting deck. You could even fab up some removable cushions for when you just want to cruise. I have a closed bow boat and I really think you'll regret doing that to yours. People want to ride up there! My closed bow is a colossal waste of space.

Nice looking boat!

I rarely go out with more than four people at a time, and often in the past in not the best weather. I am probably in the minority here, but I like closed bow concepts, from both a visual and a practicable viewpoint.

A closed bow offers both a dry place for gear in rainy, stormy weather, and is better for my tendency to take on waves that tend to crash over the bow.

That said, I vote for you closing it up, giving it a overall sporter look.
