pics of your small block v8 power steering set up please!

having a hard time setting up my power steering on my small block chevy (vp) and id like to see how others have their pump mounted. i have a few brackets but every one i try makes my pulleys way off. almost like i need a three belt water pump pulley. any help would be great ! thanks guys

Sorry no good pics.

In this pic you can see the two belts. the inside belt is running the circulation pump and alternator, and the outer belt is running the power steering pump, which is the other red pully to the upper right of the pic.

Why don't you post the full model number of your engine. No sense of looking at pictures of a V8 if you have a 3.0L, or looking at pics of a 2010 MPI if you have a 1979 carbed.
Between the OEM service manual and the parts breakdown for your engine, you should be able to figure it out.

only problem with that is, my engine is a marine built small block with vp accessories. not sure what year the volvo penta power steering is. it was an originally volvo penta 5.7 from the early 90's. if i want to go with the volvo penta pump, i guess i need to find a 3 belt pulley for my circulatory pump.
this is what im talking about.

maybe i have a pump from a big block and not a small block?

that first picture is perfect. that outer pulley is just what i need. i dont have a schematic for the parts, any idea what the part number/ size of that pulley is ?

Give me a week to get over to the boat to check it out. I can't identify it in the parts breakdowns. Mine was originally off an aq225E.
I'll see if I can find a part number/measurement on the pulley.

I once had a Volvo Penta 571 (5.7) approx 1990, with the same powersteering pump setup.

The pulley you are looking for, is No 11. VP number: 1219961



You might also want the washer, No 12. VP Number: 855894

The pulley is simply mounted "on top" of the original circulation pump pulley.

It shows to be obsolete, but looks like the same drawing. I noticed your pump mounting bracket is different from my engine and the drawing HorizonblueDK posted.

I will still try to look at my boat in the coming week. I see you've been at this for a while...

I also noticed that the bracket is a bit different, but I have a feeling that the offset in relation to the waterpump is the same. I found the numbers on www.marinepartseurope.com (Volvo Penta site), it didn't say anything about the part being obsolete. But if it is, Ebay may be the best place to search for a secondhand pulley.

If we are lucky, the pulley is used in a completly different application, and can be found that way. We can probably only go that way, if CaptMello finds some usefull info on his pulley.

Just to clarify, the pully is not obsolete, I was incorrect. Here is a link to the VP store on iboats showing the pully for the 571. #11,

Made it out to the boat today. I could not find any part numbers on the pulley or the washer.
The pulley is 6" diam., but that doesn't help much.
It looks like the pulley is available through iboats/VP OEM parts. see my previous post.
Only $200 for the pulley and Washer (adapter)...
I'm not sure I can offer any more help.
Let us know what you do and how it turns out.
