You're getting there... You need to have the URL from your project, not just the website. Open you project, and copy the URL then paste.

Use this format for the url to avoid problems with the commas:


[XXX=http://www.shareaproject.com/pages/projectTut,p,27,00.html/] Click here for my Project[/XXX]

Replace the "XXX" with "URL" and it will look like this:


Click here for my Project

That's how the links in my signature below are coded.

Woody20 is correct you need to make sure that you use the whole url. It takes time and patience belive me I had an unbelievably hard time with it at first myself.

The "codes" that allow you to put pictures and links in these message forums is called UBB. I don't know what it stands for. It generally works in all message forums unless the administrator has that feature turned off.

1) This is my example source UBB code. You can see it because the "XXX" should really be "URL".

2) This is your website address in Tuturial mode from Shareaproject: You can't get to your project because this bulletin board has problems with direct url's with commas in them, and it stops short of using the entire address when clicking on the link. Thats why if you click on this one, it doesn't work. The commas mess up the board.

Notice how if I type in http://www.yahoo.com/ you can click on that and it works. Thats because it has no commas in it.


3) I take your website address and insert it where "www.websiteaddressgoeshere.com" is in the above example and you get this:

[XXX=http://www.shareaproject.com/pages/projectTut,p,263,00.html/] Click here for my Manatee Project[/XXX]

4) Change the XXX to URL in two places to "enable" it as real UBB code and you get the following "clickable" link that actually works to your website.

If you want to copy it and put it in your signature or some other post, you may have to copy the example and not the working link. I don't know why, but sometimes copying the working link only brings over the text and not the actual link.

Also, when you right click on your project page, then click on properties, you can see your url, right? Well make sure that when you click and drag to highlight the url, you start at the beginning, right next to the h. Then drag down and to the right and when you think you have it all highlighted, drag it down a little more. It looks like there are two lines of code, but there are three, and you can only see the third if you drag down a little more.

Thought I could try to understand how to post by trial and error, but it was mostly error. I think I may now understand and will follow you directions when I have more time. I will put more pics in the Shareaproject site before trying to post my link.....

One more thing, if you put that same code on your signiture (under "My user area"), that link will appear on all of your posts automatically.

Do I need to reenter the exact long code as I did the last time? ie: [xxx=http............ etc? ??

Just tried to edit my sig.........Tried everything but can't figure this one out either! I must be missing a few brain cells or just inhaled too much FG dust!!
