Rebuild: 22' Aerocraft Cuddy <url>http://eharder.com/Eric/Boat/</url> <br>Hi mates, new to the iBoats forum. Some very interesting reading here. I've been digging the rot out of the belly of the beast for a few weeks. I'm keeping an album for those that want to know what the are getting into when finding soft spots in their deck floor. I will caption more of the pics in a few days.
Anyone done any Vacuum resin infusion on a small assembly, like a console? Need some help.

Welcome deeman.

Thats going to be a sweet float when your done.

You can go to "My user area", click on "Edit sigs", and put in this code [xxx=http://eharder.com/Eric/Boat/]22' Aerocraft Cuddy project[/xxx]

Replace the xxx at the beginning and the end to url This will put a link at the bottom of all of your post.

I am sooooo not ready to mess with vacuum infusing yet. I'm a "lay it and wet it" person for the moment.d:)

BTW, someone posted about using a weed wacker/string trimmer to remove old foam. Seemed to work well for them. I understand that is a very labor intensive job. Anything to make it easier is worth trying.

I used a sawsall with a 10" long blade, a tree trimmer blade, claw hammer and a Japanese pull saw. I rounded the point on the blades as to not do any damage bottoming out against the hull. Just cut deep "v" cuts and use the hammer claw to pop the chunks out. Once all the big pieces are out I used a chisel (by hand) and removed the sticky places. You'll need a shop vac. and big trashbags. Very labor intensive...Next time I'm hiring some day labor...

Re: Picture book of stringer/floor deck rebuild

Real pain the butt job, just did it in my 88 Four Winns. I used two different size crowbars to rip it out. Best to do this in cooler weather, way to hot to be doing this now! I would not use a weedwacker or chainsaw as I have heard others do, too easy to hurt yourself if you loose you footing in the boat. Just divide it into sections and do a section at a time so you don't get disgusted!
