Pin hole in Alpha outdrive.....

I noticed a small bee bee size hole in my Mercruiser Alpha outdrive during spring cleaning..My local mechanic told not to worry because the hole is in the area where the exhaust is channeled down to the exhaust outlet..He told me to smear some 5250 on it and it'll hold till the fall...Does this sound crazy to anyone...??? I hate having holes in my boat..!!!

it would make me worry<br /><br />a picture would make it more clear what your talking about ?? or the real name of the part with the hole<br /><br />the exaust bellows is not critcal the u-joint bellows has to be perfect<br /><br />tommays

Ayuh,.......<br />I'm Not certain if it's what you're talking about,.....<br />But,.. There's Supposed to be a little bitty Hole in that area to Drain water from the Exhaust cavity when the outdrive is in the Up position.........

Show us where it is. May be the drain. Did the mech. look at it close?

The pin hole is on the very back face of the drive even with the bottom two of the 6 bolts that hold the lower drive onto upper part of the drive...I have confirmed that exhaust is going through because I started the engine via a garden hose in the driveway and you can actually feel the puffs blowing out the pin hole... <br /><br />Thanks for the guidance in advance.....
