I have a 2001 yamaha 150txrz with a pin hole in the block by the exaust. Compression is good 95-105.. just low rpms when accelerating.. I was told by a handful of people that welding it could hold up pretty good since it is only a pinhole. I do not have the money for a new block but I also dont want to weld something that will not hold. Any advise or past experiences would be great..
Thanks

Re: pin hole in block!! can it be welded?

As already stated, yes
Do your best to remove any moisture that may weep out during the welding.
Make sure the welder places the ground clamp close as possible to the welded area to prevent any arcing of your bearings or shafts that may occur if grounded too far away (example: prop  )
Hopefully, the aluminum is not rotted to badly in the area
Hope it works out for you!

Yes it can be welded.

Welding dirty aluminum can be a *****, find a good welder familiar with welding OB blocks.
My guess is your going to find that the pin hole is a sign of more bad news to come

You say a ?pin hole? , an option to welding is if the material is thick enough is to attempt a self tapping stainless screw using JB weld as sealer.

Good luck
