"......Ayuh,....... It's the Water Drain,.......

It should be a Pipe Plug, in either 1/4", or 1/8"..........

If your hole is about 1/2",... It'll be the 1/4" Pipe........"

So what should I know about replacing a pipe plug?? Is it just as simple as sticking one back in the hole? Why is it out? Would it have broken off or would a freeze push it out?? Any tricks to replacing it? I just want to get my boat back on the lake ASAP, so any help will be much appreciated.

Re: Pipe Plug Question

Pipe fittings just screw in but after 3 or 4 turns the thread design has them turn harder and harder, that is how they seal.

Some leave them out after draining for the duration of the layup.

If they were tighened before they would not just push out.

Ayuh,.....
From your other thread, that you took that quote from,....

You're trying to replace the Manifold Drain......

The Plug it Gone, because the motor needs Draining for winter,...
The 1 that belongs there is probably still laying around in the boat somewhere....
I store mine on top of the intake manifold...
Either Way,...
Find a pipe plug that Fits,+ Screw it in.....

just don't put it in too tight. it is tapered and if ya screw it in all the way it'll open up the hole in whatever yer pluggin up. if the hole yer plugging get's to big from putting the plug in to far, it will fail to seal.....
