I am working on my 1958 Johnson CD-15 5.5 HP and am thinking it needs new rings. Problem is, Siara does not carry rings and crankcase gaskets for this old motor and my local OMC guy could not get them either. Does anyone have any ideas where I can find rings, gaskets, and possibly pistons for this motor?

Thanks, Tom Travis

Rings:
nymarine.ca/parts.html
(Those are Canadian dollars, still pricey though)
As for gaskets, you can get the head and base gasket from Iboats/Sierra, etc. Dealer should be able to get those too. You may have to cut your own exhaust and intake cover gaskets - I'm not sure. But go over the catalogs over at SierraMarine.com to see if they don't happen to have something.
If you were looking at reboring, my first bet would be to try stone and sons marine (outboard-parts.com?). But I just had an idea: I *think* the 5.5 and later 5 and 6hp outboards all had the same pistons. And oversize pistons for those engines are still showing as available. You would have to check, but it might be the way to do 5/6hp:.
376994 PISTON,Less rings,standard
376427 PISTON,Less rings,.020"O.S.
378432 RING SET,Standard
378417 RING SET,.020"O.S.

If you need those gasket p/ns, just ask!

EDIT: Gasket set:
vintageoutboard.com/Gasketsets/Gaskets-JohnsonEvinrude_1.html
The crankcase halves sealer is "Boat Armor 1000 sealer" or OMC 1000 sealer. You should be able to get that from the dealer. I've been using permetex motoseal grey for a while now and it seems to work perfect too.
