Hi, I'm looking to order a set of piston rings for my Johnson 140hp, but the site I am searching only seems to supply them for engines up to 75hp. Can anyone direct me to a site where I can get these.
Also have not split the engine yet, but am pretty sure the rings on one cylinder are the problem after doing the compression test. Is it advisable to change rings on all cylinders while I have it opened and is there anything else you would advise changing?

I will ASSume the engine has some run time on it.Likely has some carbon build up.Having worked for a rebuilder,I know theses engines WEAR hard on the cylinders, and the alum.pistons tend to get wear from the steel wristpins. That said, you wont successfully get a new set of round rings to give you a good seal in an outa round cylinder. If you want this engine to perform well,AND ITS NEW and CLEAN ENOUGH to invest in.Take it apart, have it bored to next size(020)or larger if need be,a machinest can tell you if its out of spec.and put a new piston KIT in each cyl.while your at it new needle berings, they are cheap, especially if bought aftermarket and a new gasket set.If you do it right, you wont be pulling your hair out everytime the next cyl.blows or gasket leaks. The connecting rods and crank will likely be fine if the engine hasn't blown up.Good luck.Plenty of help here.

Thanks for the advice there mikesea. Will take it on board.

Hey SBN, I checked out that website and still couldn't get it to direct me to a parts catalog.
Any links out there that will list parts for the Johnson 140 engine. Year is 1979 or 1980.
