Hey guys, I just bought a 1985 Four Winns with a 1986 vro 115hp evinrude, the piston was blown, a few questions...He got the new piston(well used) from a dealer out of the same motor, the piston is more of a gold color, outside rings, front size is identical but the shaft is slightly different and the inside looks more curvy that the original, also believe the bearing has 18 pins and we think the old one had 17. Numbers on pistons match completely, I am told this new one is fine and probably remanufactured. Do you think this one will work fine? Dont want weights to be off but wanted to see if anyone else has ran into this before. Also any idea where I can get gaskets sets for the engine or if I can use RTV? Thanks!

They use 18 needles NOT 17 of them .---You need to find the one you lost !------RTV is NOT to be used in assembling a precision motor like a V-4 Evinrude.-----A piston and rod assembly that came out of cylinder 1 or 3 can not be installed in 2 or 4.--------There is an oil hole that MUST face up on these motors.-------Mistakes are easy and costly to make.---Sorry for being blunt on this.
