Ok, I just got my boat in the water for the first time since I bought it. It is a 1984 Four Winns Horizon 195 with a 3.0L Mercruiser and an Alpha One drive with 1.94:1 gear ratio. The previous owners had a 13.75 x 21p Michigan Wheel Aluminum prop on it. With this set-up the boat is a little slow out of the hole and tops out at about 31 mph at 4200 RPM. I borrowed a 19p Michigan Wheel prop to try this weekend. Not sure of the diameter but it is a stainless steel prop. With this set-up the boat is more responsive out of the hole and runs 35 mph at 5100 rpm. I know this is a little to fast for the engine RPM's. Any suggestions what I should try?

Re: Pitch and RPM Issues

The best prop would be the 21P in my opion,as it will keep the RPMs in range and have better top end speed when needed. Going to the 19P will have you or others over reving the motor and could cause damage. Trimming the LU up alittle at takeoff will get a skier up faster with the 21p, and after they are up you can trimm down for a better ride. JMO
