pitch question about gears from v8 put in v6 outdrive

i was wondering if someone might know what would be the best pitch to get for this. the gears in the upper housing came out of a thomas with a ford v8 in it and i put it in the upper housing for a 4.3 v6 in a renker. the porp now is stamped 15 x 17 but seems like it takes a while to plane out. any help please. i think the rpms are running aroune 3000 or 3500. sorry dont exactly remember.

What outdrive is on the boat?

sorry its a stringer outdrive 800 i believe. i just had the gears that was in another boat with the ford 302 so i just used them in the housing for the 4.3 v6. im trying to figure out what is going to give me the best thrust for the engine.

Thank you. I will look around to see if I can find one. I just had the gears so I figures why spend the hundreds of dollars. Maybe I should have.

13p pretty common- in stock here at iboats.
11 was made but will be a trick to find.
you could try a 13 and see where you end up
