i have a 1996 johnson ocean runner 150hp., there's a short hose that comes off a tee from the oil pump, it's about 3 inches long, when the motor is running it pumps pulses of air. should this be connected somewhere? it doesn't seem long enough to reach anywhere. tx

Yes -- it connects to the pulse limiter fitting on the crankcase.

let me rephrase my question, why would the pulse hose have a tee, with one end going to the pump, and the other end going to nowhere?

Are you running premix? Could be the VRO was bypassed and the pulse limiter was removed and someone just didn't plug the pump hose.

no, not running premix, the engine runs good, but once in awhile the warning horn will beep, but only at wot, the engine is using lots of 2 stroke oil,and smokes nicely on the muffs
