Hey guys
You may remember me I just rebuilt my 1990 120 looper Evinrude about two months ago.Well all is running well but I dont have the power getting up on plane. At full throttle it gets up to about 3200 RPM and wont plane off unless I get someone to get on the bow. After planeing off full throttle and trimed up just before roster tail Im at about 5200 RPM. Before I rebuilt It would run 5800 easy, and no problem planning off. I did notice one blade on my prop has lost some of the cup compared to the other two. Could this be my problem? Its a little hard starting still also but runs fine after you get it going. It runs 5000 RPM At 50 MPH
Thanks
Hooked

Re: planing off problem

I don't know what type of boat your running, but that 120 should plane out without someone having to move forward. If your engine was running 5800 before rebuild, it should do the same, or better now. This is a case where you would want to go through an entire system check to get to the root of the problem. If you have damaged your prop, can you get a known good prop of the same size to try. Don't run a damaged prop, this can give an engine quite a shaking, and cause damage.
