Re: planing

Go for the wood transom support. It will help distribute the stress.

Are you sure that motor is running OK? With a 40 on a 14' - you should jump out of the water up on plane. I don't remember from your other post (that is why it is a good idea to keep one thread going with the same problem rather than start a new one) but are you sure that both cylinders are firing? Start it up and pull a plug wire. If it slows down that is OK - try the other plug. If it quits that tells you that only one cylinder is working. Have you checked compression?

You have the right prop when your motor is turning the maximum rated RPM at wide open throttle (WOT). The most efficient RPM is within %10 of that. Best cruise is to go to WOT and then back off a bit.

I don't know what originally came with your motor.

Re: planing

thanks so little i think i got as someone said caught up in the translation so thought would start new one sorry guys couple of things when i hit throttle it does get up and go quick but like i mentioned before 3-5 secs later starts plowing the bow drops slowly from ahigh when start off, not like it just drops but slowly does, then shes a plowin to bad tractor doesnt do that good in field heheheehehe as a professional mechanic by trade gas and diesel i am positive after all the work ive done on motor it should be ok but will try and have someone with me and pull a plug wire under load sometimes no load will fool you, under load the rpms get up good by throttle handle although not like when i go back to throttle body and open her up she screams quickly i do have some cable adj issue but not enough to affect planing like previously mentioned and i know why now you say same thread i keep goin back to what i said again i apologize and will stick with same thread  when it does start plowing the rpms scream up so dont think its a power issue as maybe a prop, motor height or weight dist. prob my dad bought this bought for me and he is very sick he is proud of what ive accomplished but would like to go out with me one time and i dont want to sell her after i raise motor and weight her down will let you know how it goes, its 120 miles round trip to be dissapointed again arghhhh. so if anyone has any other ideas i could help with setup before i go
i wan to eliminate as much as possible. also one more thing may help i just remembered just before starts plowing seems squirley like the water wants to control where boat is going

Re: planing

sounds to me like to much motor for a little boat.. i am assuming it is a deeper v hull with a flat rear end.. sounds like you have the motor trimmed to close to the transom.. you get it up on plane but then the angle of the the shaft pushes the front end into the water.. try moving a pin hole at a time and see if that works.. might not plane as quick but it may keep the front end from plowing..
