Plastic snap Caps?

Hello everyone,just wondering if anyone knows where I can get the Grey plastic snap on caps for upholestry.I have tried numerous companies and searched the net but seems no one makes the grey ones anymore.All the colors of the rainbow except grey.What gives.Anyways any and all help would be greatly appreciated.<br /><br /> Thanks in Advance.

Catchem - IF you find some... PLEASE re-post to this topic. I too have been looking for grey caps everywhere for several weeks. I did get some white ones and thought I'd try painting them??? I'll let you know.

That will probably work. I"d get some of the spray can stuff used on car bumpers or for auto interiors. Most of the big auto parts stores have a fair selection of it with quite a few grays. It tends to be very agressive and melt into plastic pretty well. If your caps are clean, it should get a good 'bite' and not be prone to chipping very easily.

Something else you may like to try, depending on what type of plastic they're made from you may be able to dye them. The hot dyes used for dyeing nylon and other man-made fabrics work on many "solid" plastics too, and once dyed the colour is permanent, it can't chip or flake off as paint does.<br />Start with white ones and use a black dye, experiment with individual caps to see how long they need to soak to achieve the shade of grey, then dye a whole batch at the same time.

Datawire,"IF" I find any I will re-post.Have already tried the painting and really don't like it.Would prefer the the regular caps so they match the vinyl better.Winger Ed,and pertolhead thanks for your responses.Might try the dye and see how it works.Can't understand why they don't have the gray anymore though....Seems like everyone is looking for that color.Anybody ever comes across the gray snap caps please let me know.<br /><br /> thanks

<br /> This site has LOTS of different kinds and colors (grey too). <br /><br />If that's not the part, a search on Google turned-up almost 5,000 links (not saying they're all good, but it's a start)<br /><br />Finally, I've had good luck at this upholstry forum. Maybe a quick post there will turn-up a supplier.

WOW Ed F... Thanks - Just what I was looking for! <br /><br />Catchem - The "Morning Grey" #8/8-170 looks perfect for me - but no way will I ever use 1000 of them. If they'll work for you too... I'll mail you all you need. I plan on ordering the #8/8-CSK Bases as well. Let me know and I'll get them coming.
