plastic tank fuel grounding?

i just purchased a new old stock tempo 25g fuel tank. it is recommended that the tank be grounded. is this the same ground that goes to the sender ir should there be another ground connected to the tank itself somehow to discharge static electricity? they mention in the instructions a tank grounding kit part# 117tgd but i don't see where this would hook up on the tank if it is needed. anyone with experience installing gas tanks your insight on this would be greatly appreciated.

i would run a ground besides the gauge ground......... just to be safe.

when my dad let me borrow his ranger and i was switching my eng and accs i noticed even the fuel filler necks were grounded......... neither one of my other bassboats was grounded.. but will be when im done with the restores.

it never hurts to have too many grounds....... unless its not supposed to be grounded.

The tank ground connects to the metal flange on the sender and then to the engine block. The fuel filler should also be grounded.

thanks for the replies. that's what i thought but it confused me in the instructions when they say they have a tank grounding kit available when all i need is some wire and connecters.

Just for further clarification, per Coast Guard regulations, fuel fills that are all plastic do not need to be grounded. If they have a metal cap, however, then the cap must be grounded.
