I'm relacing foam under the floor of a 17' Mirrocraft aluminum boat. The original foam is surrounded top and bottom with a thin plastic liner. It certianly did make things easier when removing the old foam. It there any other reason why they use a plastic liner around the foam?

Perhaps to try and keep water from being absorbed into the foam. Kind of a water proof barrier ?

They do that in packing-for-shipment. The thin-film plastic is put in place and the foam is sprayed in. Less messy that way.

We dont get much action over on this forum eh?:p
