Re: plastic wedge

I wouldn't think so unless the adjustment bar is destroyed. Could you post a pic? Sure would help.

Re: plastic wedge

sorry i couldnt reply until now, my internet wireless card thing messed up.

my dogs ate my usb cable for my camera so other than that i dont know how to put pictures on my comp. i do good to operate the darn thing.

about my wedge, ive seen other boats with them and some without them. i was just wondering what they are for. and if i really need it. and does it change anything with where the force is applied to the transom.

i have power trim, so it doesnt look like it does anything but angle the motor for a deeper bite.

nobody ive seen with them knows why they are there they just tell me it came that way when they bought it. i was thinking of buying a different boat and using my motor, and didnt know if i should put the wedge on the different boat.

thanks for the help.

thanks for the help.

For about $15 you can buy 9 in 1 card reader to remove your photos from your camera to your computer. It handles most any kind of digital camera storage card. If you have an SD card get an inexpensive card reader. Mine is about half the size of a BIC lighter. Both plug into your USB port.

Re: plastic wedge

Wedges between the transom and the motor bracket are used to correct for incorrect transom angle, or to help the boat plane out at low speeds. The wedges are thicker at the top, correct? Putting them in there allows trimming the motor farther "in" than can be accomplished without them. If you like the way the boat performs, leave them in. As far as putting them on another boat, the only way to tell if you need them is to try it with and without them to see if the trim range of the motor is enough for the boat.

Re: plastic wedge

Did a search on google "transom wedge".
I would think a handy person could make them out of hardwood,
workable plastic etc.I get the impression most are to improve power trim angle
though I would think they could be used on manual trim to gain or lose a 1/2 notch. Its been my experience that most manual trim one notch isn't quite enough and the next is too much.Seems a wedge could help this.

Re: plastic wedge

I have one thats made for the larger outboards. Its reversible so you can make it give you more trim in or out.My boat did not need it so i took it back off.
Its powder coated metal so it will never rust or corrode. It was over 150 bucks!...I think it helps spread the stress on the transom out some too.
