playground foam for carpet backing?

I was at the park the other day for my daughters birthday, and they had that safety cushioning foam on the ground everywhere. So i got to thinking, the way that stuff feels would be great on my boat, and obviously it holds up to the weather and such. I havent even looked into where to get it or anything, but has anyone else thought about this at all?

I thought about using horse stall mats in my boat. Its like the mats your talking about but just a bit firmer. I had some left over from a barn i built. The problem i couldn't get past was the floor hatches in the boat. Couldn't figure out how to cover them and still be able to open and close them. The mats were to thick. I do think it would work well in the right boat.

hmm...I only have 1 ski locker. And my plan was to glue some kind of foam to the back of the carpet, and make a removable 1-piece carpet pad that could be pulled out at the end of the trip. that playground stuff is really soft so i thought it would feel really nice underneath the carpet. I havent looked into anything else though.

i dont know, thats a concern. But i would make it removable anyways. I am searching online but cant find what im looking for.

Are you talking about these type of deals? http://www.softtiles.com/ We set up one of those quick set pools on our patio every year. To protect the bottom of the pool and to make it feel nicer on the feet we invested in a whole mess of those tiles to cover the patio. We got the gray ones they sell for "gym floors" and we got them at Sears. Harbor Freight sold them as well. They've been out for 2 seasons with no noticeable degradation or waterlogging. They don't breath though so for you removable idea they'd be great. Wouldn't put them in permanently or it'd rot your deck in a hurry.

Outdoor mats are made from recycled tires. They won't get water logged.

The mats we used were interlocking 2X2 squares at 3lbs each. So weight wouldn't be that bad. They are also made to be hosed down so they don't absorb water.

I was looking for a roll of some stuff, but those might work. pretty cheap too. I just fiberglassed the whole deck, so the water should run under these and drain, i would hope. but ya i would be taking them out after the weekend anyways. Ill check harbor freight, thats a good idea. Thats about my budget too right now .
