Anyone want to guess what happened during the install of the carpet? The clue is in the second picture.

If you guessed I fell into the hole while the carpet was covering it, you guessed correctly. I was at the bow adjusting the carpet and needed my razor blade which was at the stern. So, I just started walking straight down the middle. Without even thinking "Uh-oh I shouldn't have stepped there", I stepped in the middle of the hole. It was like a trap for my ownself. Luckily the carpet wasn't glued at that point, which could've been a mess. I didn't even get hurt, I was able to stick my arms out before my face planted into the floor. First thing after glueing the carpet, I cut the hole out. :D

The engine in that pic is probably one of the most bulletproof engine designs ever made. At one point, we had 2 out of 3 outboards we owned as that. We still have a 70 rude on a pontoon boat and it runs perfect, and it's an 82 model.

That's good to know. I was amazed how easily it started after sitting for so long. It turned over twice and fired right up (two revs), unbelievable....

Give her good fuel, fresh gear oil every year, a new water pump impeller ever three-four years, take her out and run her hard every 2-3 weeks or so is all it takes - there's literally no upper limit on service hours. Prop her right. Fix what breaks. Mine will be 30 soon, runs as good or better than she did on day one.

Re: Playing a trick on your ownself.....

Nothing like falling in front of a bunch of people while trying to get aboard my boat. I stepped in and fell down first thing as I entered my bass boat :D. My balance isn't good at all due to my fused ankle so that is what mainly caused it. Here I launched at my uncle's place on the lake, he had a few people around building his new boat house/dock.

I got up shook it off and proceeded to load my boat, just thankfull I didn't land on the pedestal that was still sitting in the base . That is the second time I have fell this month, the first time was on firm ground and I fell with a full glass of ice water in hand. Those are the only 2 times I have fell in a couple of year.

Funny, most everyone has ignored the story about falling because the project looks so good. I was going to say looking good, when that just occurred to me.

It happened to me once, and I was carrying a open gallon of glue, don't know how I manage to avoid disaster but that stunt sure would have made the cirque du soleil :)

That's a nice looking carpet job.

I had an older boat with the removable lid to the ski locker. My 3 Y/O daughther climbed in while I was cleaning it up. In she went not even knowing there is a hole there. Alls I heard was a thud and her screaming.

After I got us both calmed down and no evident injuries, but couldn't figure out where the red stuff came from all over the place, she started asking me to get her juice box. Well, I found it in the locker, but when she went in, she landed on it and juice went all over the place through the straw. It took me a day to clean up the stickeyness.

did you *really* hit that boat with some part of your body hard enough to do that damage?

That's gotta hurt!

That looks like it was just ripped apart. How did you manage to do so much damage to the boat? Good to know that you are not too badly hurt.

Those pics at the top make me think of that scene in the old movie money pit.
