I am new at this stuff but I've got three outboards to work on this winter. Looking at the serial and model numbers, I think I derive the following. Someone please verify whether or not I am correct.

Johnson LightTwin Model 3303S Serial B 18010

Pretty sure this is a 1963 3 HP. I posted an earlier message on this one yesterday and got a good response.

Johnson Moel CD-15 Serial 1698561

Not sure but I think this is a 5 HP year 1958. The reason I am not sure is because the guy who gave it to me said it was 1974. This motor had the cover painted so there is no HP decail. First glance at the model CD-15 would make me think 15 HP but I don't think it is that big. I want to use this on lakes that have a 10 horse limit so I need to be sure about the HP. Of the three motors I have here, I believe this is the best working because it was running a couple years ago, the gas ran out of it, and then stored.

Finally I have a 15HP Johnson Model J15EE0D serial G 03889658. I think this is a 1996 year.

This motor had the head overheat and water got into the pistons. This will be my bigest challange. I plan to start working on the smaller motors first and get some success before takeing on this 15 HP.

Thanks,

Tom Travis

Tom Travis

DHP,

Thanks, boatsetup engine ID page is not working for me. I tried it with Internet Explorer and also Mozilla browsers. Both come up with blank information page. Maybe my security settings are to high to run their script.

Tom,

I ran the Lightwin numbers when I replyed to your other post. It is in fact a '63.

Johnson CD-15:
Year: 1958
HP: 5.5
WOT RPMS: 4000
Displacement: 8.84 cu.in. = 144.8 ccm
Weight: 56 lbs. = 25.4 Kg
Gearcase Ratio: 15:26
Spark plugs: Champion J6C gapped at .030" (Same as lightwin)
Fuel/Oil mix: 24:1 87 octane gas to TC-W3 rated outboard oil.
Lower unit oil: 80/90W / OMC/BRP HiVis.

Johnson J15EE0D:
J - Johnson
15 - 15hp
E - Electric Start
EO - '95
D - Meaningless model run code.

Post '79 Johnson/Evinrude ID, click here.
Old OMC Site, where I checked the 3hp and the 5.5.
Archive of OMC's old model-year website, click here.

The LightTwin is an Evinrude, not Johnson.
