does it matter which color wire goes to the small terminals on the starter solnoid?... the wires where disconnected and i put the white and red strip coming from the engine side (starter side) to the same side..the other wire seems to goto the switch up front... anyway i have no spark.. the motor turns over... how do i test coil with my volt meter.. do i put red on positive mark of coil and black lead on - side of coil??? i have a original repair manual but the electrical section had been removed and lost ( not by me) really need a wiring diagram... i have a switch that has no wires going to it on the distributor or just below ????? like a cam switch??? no sure where the wires went to there is no wires available for that switch.. i took the distrubtor off, the condesor was replaced and the points look whiteish to grayish color. is that the correct color, or should they be metallic?

You are fighting a losing battle without a wiring diagram or at the very least a knowledge of how stuff works.

I have no idea what you are doing, but I can tell you the red with red stripe wire goes to the choke solenoid. The white with red stripe wire is not used for anything on that motor.

The switch on the distributor is a safety switch that prevents starting the motor at fast throttle settings. The wire is white.
