please help an idiot out 1986 force 125

ok changed the impeller. (piece of cake) took out the vent and filler screws and what i thought was the drain screw, but was the screw that holds the shift fork in place. well took down lower unit and after fighting it alllllllll day i got it. ( wooooo hooooo!!!!!!!!) put it back and fired it up. water came out through the exhaust ( i think thats normal) and alittle through the pee holes. problem is the one lower unit bolt in the exhaust snout and 2 bolts on the starboard side pee out water turned off motor and they peed for a little bit i tried to tighten more but they are tight. why are they leaking but the others are not..

When you had the lower unit off, did you notice the blind chambers on either side of the water pump? These chambers have 1/8 inch weep holes in the bottom so water does not stay in them and corrode the metal. These weep holes are right near the bolts and it can appear that water is coming from around the bolts.

None of the lower unit bolts connect with any chamber so any water that appears to come from them is used cooling water that has collected in the lower unit. Nothing to worry about.

The bulk of the cooling water comes out the snout with the exhaust and a smaller portion exits the idle relief vents (pee holes).

And if you had properly read the sticky post, you would not have removed the shifter screw. (Gotta kick 'em while they're down--it's easier)

ok frank thanks for kicking me on the shift forrk screw i took it like a man. i thought that was the oil drain plug but i think it is an allen head bolt at the bottom but i got the oil changed too..lol thanks never saw the water comming out from near the lower unit bolts before i guess i did a good job thanks again..
