Hello all, I am looking at getting into boating and recently purchased an old boat with busted engine. Engine is an 85HP Chrysler (model # 857HD possibly from 1972 (but not sure)) top and middle pistons are cooked (top is cooked more than the middle). During the disassembly I?ve discovered a crack in top crank oil seal. With top piston being the most cooked I think air leaked through top crank seal and leaned out the mixture in the top cylinder. Anyway during disassembly and removal of the crank one of the large c-clips around the center bearings on the crank broke (there are two c-clips per bearing the one that is narrow (like wire) is ok, the flat and wide one broke (please see picture below). Please let me know
1. where can I get a replacement clip
2. How hard is it to replace it (do I have to break the crank)
Can you also tell me what these c clips are for?
Your help is much appreciated! Thank you!
