Hi Everyone.

First post here, after reading plenty of topics over the last few days.

I've recently bought a Yammie 25hp 2 Stroke for my RIB. Got it through classifieds from a guy who knows nothing about boats or motors.

The story is that it was on a yacht tender from Indonesia for a few years...

What I do know is that it's a Yammie 25hp 2 stroke. 2 cylinder, single carb, manual start. My best guess is that it is a E25BMH. I suspect is that it's an Enduro or CV model. The picture shows an Enduro decal, but when looking at the sticker closeup, it looks like it was printed aftermarket and I'm 99% sure that Yamaha never produced decals with exactly the same design as this.

There are no factory data stickers anywhere on the motor. As you can see, the usual data plate with serial number on the transom clamp isn't there and nor is there any sticker showing a manufacturing date.

I'm hoping somebody with more knowledge than me could help pin down the model and at least offer a guess for the year model, based on the cowling shape?

Any comments most welcome.

Thanks.
Chris.

Any outboard without a data plate that I've come across is a stolen motor.

Ordinarily all you would have to do is call Yamaha with the SN and ask them. Obviously, you're out of luck there.

Its not a motor made for US sales. Google when conventional 2 strokes were outlawed for sale in the US and your motor will have been made after that. (I'm guessing it was circa 2008, since my 25 Yami was a 2007 and it was one of the last)

If you are located in the US, it was probably imported after the prohibition, so you might be on shaky legal ground. Regardless, with no documented data its almost conclusive that its stolen, so that's shaky ground as well.

If it was mine I would unload it quick.

Thanks for all the comments.

I'm in South Africa.

It looks like I'm out of luck when it comes to finding a specific (or estimated) year model. Fortunately I'm mechanical enough to figure out what needs to be done if something goes wrong.
