Thanks alot, Ive read alot already but I donot know If these thing apply to me . I have just purchased an older fiberglass boat made by riegger , called a surfmaster tri hull. The boat had a couple little cracks which I have sanded down a re fiberglassed. My main concern is the stringer which I think is the name that runs the lenght of the boat . When I removed the ply wood floor it was rotten and that peice of wood was three times the size . I have kept the boat in my garage to help it dry and have actually put the dehumidifier out there also.

Now for the questions?
1. Should there be more support under there?
2. Should I just cut out that peice and re fiberglass a new one or just fiberglass over the pre existing peice ( it had been fiberglassed before but only up each side)? Thanks for youre help I truly appreciate any comments.

Remove the old stringer, replace with solid wood encapsulated in glass...add bracing elsewhere to your taste then install a new deck.

Those older trihulls are very sturdy, and much thicker on the fiberglass hull than the newer stuff. I went ahead and added some cross-supports as well, and it does feel 'tighter' on high speed corners. New stringers are in order...all glassed in.

Remove and replace.

Can you post pics? I'd like to see a Surfmaster! And pics of the stringer.
